When the iPad 3 was launched, there was some criticism by few countries pertaining to its name. Apple has yielded to the criticism and renamed one of its tablets. The main concern was shown at the usage of the name “WiFi + 4G”, for iPad 3. This criticism stems from the fact that the technology being mentioned (4G LTE) is not available globally as of now. This naming strategy also caused confusion among the consumers. It appeared as if it were a ploy from Apple to get customers for iPad 3. The actuality was that the technology is not yet available to all.

iPad 3 has emerged in the market as one of the best tablets in terms of functionality and graphic appeal as well. The tablet offers Retina Display, supreme GPU and a quad core based processing at a modest price tag of $499. These features are a major reason for the fact that this tablet is selling like hotcakes globally. Despite of the global acclaim, no tablet is perfect. Likewise, there are some minor shortcomings in the iPad 3. They are minor in the sense that these shortcomings are in the software, so they can be rooted out with an update. Apple fans worldwide have more cause to celebrate as the third generation of iPad is launched in more markets worldwide. The iPad 3 is finally being launched in the international markets, starting with South Korea and moving on to a dozen others. On the 20th of April, the new Retina-grade iPad has been launched in Brunei, Croatia, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Malaysia, Panama, St Maarten, Uruguay, Venezuela, and, of course, South Korea. This third wave of the iPad 3 was preceded by one on March 23rd which hit most of Europe, while the initial release of the iPad 3 had been in selected markets of North America, Europe and Asia. The last batch of the iPad 3 will be hitting on the 27th of April in 50 more markets worldwide including Colombia, Estonia, India, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, South Africa and Thailand.

The iPad 3 announced by Tim Cook back on March 7th is said to have a GPU 4 times faster than Nvidia’s Tegra 3. The iPad 3 has a dual core processor while Tegra 3 has a quad core processor. GeForce GPU is offered by Nvidia. It is thought that Apple’s multi-core graphics should kill the competition. But three times better than Tegra 3? This is an important question which needs to be answered as both are included in the hottest trending tablets in the market.

In the past few days, Apple has received a lot of customer complaints regarding a series of Wi-Fi issues, which affect the third-generation iPad which they released this year. According to the AppleCare document which Apple has released, Apple is investigating in order to see what to make of the complaints about the iPad 3’s Wi-Fi-related issues. There have been a lot of iPad users who have complained that the third-generation iPad has a lot of Wi-Fi issues, which include: connection drops, slow upload and downloading speeds and even the device’s inability to pick up and connect to the local Wi-Fi networks present in the vicinity. Don’t know how was the Wi-Fi version cleared for China with all the issues. We know how quickly the iPad 3 is selling since the launch day. A few days ago, we informed that it has sold 3 million units in the first weekend of sales, and Pocket-lint reported few days ago that PC World and Currys group has so far sold 80 percent more iPad 3s in the four days after launch than iPad 2s in the similar time frame last year.

The Retina Display is one of the most prominent features of the iPad 3 compared to the iPad 2. The high level of brightness is maintained due to the increased number of LEDs. However, the large number of LEDs taken a toll on the battery life. The ‘heating problem’ which we have heard about in the past is also rumored to be due to a large number of LEDs. There have been news about the issues involving battery life and heating problems and here is a summary:
A report suggests that even though the battery of iPad 3 is 1.7 times larger than the iPad 2, the number of LEDs which offer full brightness and better resolution is not doing well for the battery life.

Apple has announced that it has sold three million units of the iPad 3 since the launch on 16th of March. The iPad 3 has a brand new Retina Display, A5X chip, a 5 megapixel iSight camera which shoots 1080p HD video and is amazingly light and thin. The iPad 3 has already been jailbroken untethered by three hackers using their unmentioned exploits. The first one was MuscleNerd, the second jailbreak done by German hacker i0n1c and the third feat was achieved by chpwn. Now another addition comes in! Paul Griffin (@phoenixdev) found another vulnerability in iOS 5.1 which leads to a fourth untethered jailbreak of the iPad 3.
