iPad 3 – Apple Patent for MagSafe Chargers in iOS Devices
Your next Apple iPad tablet, the iPad 3 may include a MagSafe charger that is currently used in MacBooks. The MagSafe patent for tablet and phones was recently uncovered by Patently Apple.
The patent stipulates the possibility of using such chargers in iOS devices like the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. If you aren’t familiar with MagSafe chargers they can save you from damaging your devices (and internals) when you accidentally trip over the power cord and it either yanks the port considerably, or sends them airborne across the room.

According to the latest news of the iPad 3 likely being delayed till 2012 because of display production, a MagSafe charger may be in the consideration phases. If not you can bet Apple will be considering it in a year or so.
We’ve all had the mishap of tripping over a charger or two, and if you have the MagSafe on your laptop it’s probably saved you a few casualties. Seeing how the iPad and other iOS devices are rather lightweight in comparison it would obviously need to be modified (magnetic strength) to still be relevant.
Overall it wouldn’t be a bad addition to the iPad 3 by any means because I’m all about saving and protecting my investments, especially my Apple gadgets.
