If you have been following us lately, we posted an image last week that was claimed to be the front glass and digitize assembly for the iPad 3. The source was a Chinese blog known as Sina Weibo. The differences in the ribbon cable attached to the component image showed a different part event though the part appears similar to the version found on iPad 2.

You knew this news was coming, especially after the constant publications of the legal battle between Samsung and Apple over claims of copyright infringement. Samsung has become a strong competitor with Apple in both the smartphone and tablet arena.

Now, according to the Wall Street Journal, and “people familiar with the situation,” Apple is adding Sharp to its lineup of display manufacturers for its next generation iPad3 and iPhone 5; and likely on into the future of devices as well.

Brace yourself Apple lovers, because a new rumor has surfaced claiming that the iPad 3 will need to gain some thickness in order to accommodate that beloved Retina Display. The rumor has been traced to an insider within Apple’s supply chain who goes on to expose the reason at this time.

According to the unnamed source, the last news we published about Apple’s intentions to go with a dual light bar in order to get the brightness in check on the refreshed tablet; is the guilty party. While the iPad 3 is apparently going to gain around 0.7mm it would still be around 0.4mm thinner than the iPad. So if you didn’t upgrade to the iPad 2 and are still using your original iPad this might not be so bad of news to you anyway.

With the sophistication and clarity of the Retina Display, we can only hope that it’s destined for the iPad 3 as well. Business and other organizations have continually been adopting the Apple iPad for use and as a way to increase productivity.

According to Apple Insider, “a similar pixel density for the iPad 3 would unlock very valuable capabilities for professionals, including pilots using the tablet for electronic charts and doctors using it for medical imaging.”

If you’ve been following closely, then you will know that the iPad 3 has been running into quite a few issues that are threatening to delay the release of the refreshed tablet.  We reported earlier that Apple was having difficulties with production times and costs with the A6 Processor as well as the “must have” Retina Display.

The latest rumor coming from DigiTimes who has a somewhat credible history of insider information, references the current problems with retaining the brightness of the proposed super display on the iPad 3.  That display would come in at a resolution of 2048×1536 and be pushing out some truly impressive PPI; but the size of the screen is where Apple and its supply chain have been running into difficulties compared with the smaller display on the iPhone.

Apple appears to be going after the new display benchmark with the iPad 3.  Seeing how they would love to pack a retina display in the tablet, manufacturers may be strained according to an anonymous source.

Retina display is named so because of the correlation between pixels and detail versus what the human eye can distinguish from.  Your iPhone 4S has 326 PPI in a 3.5 inch screen running at a resolution of 960×640.  So what about the plans for the iPad 3?

iPad 3 Leaked Photo: Part Suggests Further Slimming

In a forever battle of “thin is in,” the iPad 3 could be shaving some more width off its design. Many have questioned whether it’s even possible to keep thinning a tablet, when fans are clamoring and shouting for boosted specs at the same time.

Well, with news of an increased battery that is smaller and thinner thanks to some new innovation by Apple, and now the leaked photo of a dock connector; Apple fans may be in store for yet another round of weight reduction and slimming in store for the iPad 3.

iPad 3 Might Initially Lack the A6 Processor

According to an analyst, the hyped A6 processor chip will reach the iPad 3 later in 2012 than on its release date. The analyst projects that it won’t be until June 2012 at the earliest that we could see the rumored quad-core A6 make its way under the hood of Apple’s iPad 3.

You may remember how Apple has recently brought on TSMC for production of their chips which could cause some yield uncertainties as well. Samsung currently manufactures the Apple A5 processor which rests in your iPad 2, but because of the ongoing legal battle and other relationship woes, Apple has reached out to help increase yield and take advantage of the 28nm technology.

The Linley Group and Kevin Krewell, responsible for the news said “The rumored A6 is a major step-up in chip design. Not only does it contain four processor cores but will use so-called 3D technology.” This 3D technology is not to be confused with other 3D technologies but rather is the way to stack and electrically connect die vertically.

Your next Apple iPad tablet, the iPad 3 may include a MagSafe charger that is currently used in MacBooks. The MagSafe patent for tablet and phones was recently uncovered by Patently Apple.

The patent stipulates the possibility of using such chargers in iOS devices like the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. If you aren’t familiar with MagSafe chargers they can save you from damaging your devices (and internals) when you accidentally trip over the power cord and it either yanks the port considerably, or sends them airborne across the room.

iPad 3 Internal Parts Leaked Photos

The exposed parts of the iPad 3 depict the full external button control that is housed inside of the iPad. The leaked photos were examined by an iPad repair shop called iFixYouri who have first-hand experience with the internals of Apple’s tablets. According to them, the material used to build these parts directly correlates with the material of the iPad 2 parts giving these components some authenticity.

Here’s the interesting part however, while the parts appear to be authentic, the location of the switches is completely different as well as changes to the internal structure too reported by 9to5mac. This may very well be just an internal research test by Apple that will never make it to the iPad 3, or the internal and external layout of buttons is in for a change.

A freshly leaked photograph over at Apple.pro is alleged to be an iPad 3 part further fueling rumors that Apple will launch another tablet later this year. According to further investigation the part is dubbed as number 821. Important to note is that Apple.pro has been a reliable source for leaked Apple photos in the past.

The photo is purported to be an internal component that differs in part numbers from that of the iPad 2. The similar iPad 2 part is labeled as 1180 while the new leaked part has been augmented to 1259. What does that mean exactly? Well for starters it led sources to speculate that the part is for a different model (the iPad 3) and that it is also a sign that it’s receiving design changes.

With rumors circulating where your next iPad 3 may be manufactured, it seems that Foxconn has gotten a bit wary about Pegatron being added as a possible new manufacturer for Apple’s iPad 3 tablets. Foxconn wants to remain tightly linked to Apple as their sole tablet manufacturer throughout the rest of 2011 and beyond.

Even though Foxconn often makes the news for employees leaking Apple device secrets before their release date, and continues to be plagued by employee suicides, they have remained loyal and committed to Apple.

Will the iPad 3 roll out even thinner than the iPad 2? Well it appears so, and here’s why Apple fans. By now you are well aware of the ongoing battle between Apple and Samsung despite their contractual relationship to produce components like the A5 Processor currently in the iPad 2.

New sources and information have surfaced suggesting that Apple is in talks with TSMC or Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company for A6 Processor production. The Cupertino giant is apparently looking to replace long time partner Samsung for more than one reason.

iPad 3 and Nanosys QDEF Display Technology

We’re really hoping Nanosys partners with Apple and their iPad 3 because this new QDEF display is simply marvelous with extravagant rich colors never before seen. According to those who have seen this side by side with current displays; QDEF makes your iPad 2 screen look dingy and meek.

Nanosys currently owns 400 patents on the display for QDEF; or Quantum Dot Enhanced Film. The only true way to experience these displays is in person because viewing the difference online does not do it justice. After all you are trying to compare the difference in a screen while viewing it through your own computers sub-par screen. But, we’ve included a video for you anyway to see just what we’re talking about.

With all the rumors, patents and superior technology that will find itself tucked into the iPad 3, you’re probably wondering what that means for the battery life.

Since we know that it will be more powerful than the iPad 2, likely incorporating retina display, a faster A6 processor, and other aspects that would seemingly reduce the iPad 3‘s efficiency and life between charges; what can users expect?

Retina display although brighter and crisper than previous low resolution screens, is very easy on battery consumption.  It was found to be the most power efficient when compared to the likes of the Motorola Droid, iPhone 3GS and the Google Nexus One.

The iPad 3 will likely be running the A6 processor which is currently rumored to be quad core and would also lead fans to believe that Read the rest of this entry

iPad 3 Prototype & Apple Leaks Leads To Three Arrests

In case you haven’t seen one of the only prototypes circulating the web about a possible iPad 3 design, we thought we’d share it with our readers.  The photo showcases an edge to edge screen, and a repositioned home button on the display.

This definitely isn’t a confirmed prototype and certainly goes against the news we published about the iPad 3 smart bezel patent.  However, it certainly shows a thinner and interesting take on a future design that the iPad tablets may adopt at some point.

iPad 3 Rumors About A Quadcore A6 Processor

A developer is sharing his opinion about the iPad 3 and a possible inclusion of a quadcore processor.  That would be one beefy A6 processor powering the iPad 3.

Miles Jacobson is the boss behind Football Manager, and he’s claiming that they have some very good relationships with a lot of chipset and hardware manufacturers.  He went on to speculate that he would be very surprised if the iPad 3 was lacking a quadcore processor when it debuts.

Jacobsen apparently has the manufacturer’s intentions and product development plans, citing that they are truly something to drool over.  We should be seeing a technology war for the tablet market starting to heat up, especially for Read the rest of this entry

iPad 3 Resolution: Sourcing From Samsung?

iPad 3 Likely To Incorporate Samsungs New Retina Display

Samsung, who is trying to compete in the tablet market with the Samsung Galaxy, revealed plans to increase their pixel density to new; never before seen levels.

We were all hoping that the iPad 2 was going to include a higher retina display but as we mentioned in previous updates; it just didn’t pan out for many reasons behind the scenes.

The iPad 3 is guaranteed to have an upgraded screen and we’re willing to bet that Apple will be looking to source the screens from Samsung; that is as long as agreements can be met ahead of time constraints of course. Read the rest of this entry
